2. Weeping Cherry Trees at Baigan Temple

It is an ancient temple with a history of 1,000 years. The weeping cherry tree on its grounds is famous as a representative 'picture' of the Nishi-Tama area and is a natural monument of Ome City. The view of the city from behind the weeping cherry tree is truly a view through the cherry curtains. A statue of Kobo-Daishi and his footprints are enshrined in the temple's precincts, and stepping on the footprints will bring merit equivalent to the 88 pilgrimage sites on Shikoku.

3. Weeping Cherry Trees at Kongou Temple

When Taira no Masakado (903-940: a powerful family active in the Kanto region during the Heian period) visited this temple, the plum tree's body remained green and never ripened, hence the name "Ome of Masakado's oath", and the current name of Ome City.
The temple's precincts are home to significant cultural assets and natural monuments of the national and metropolitan governments, and a large weeping cherry tree stands symbolically.
