The Great Buddha Unveiled in TOKYO

The 12 meters tall Great Buddha has been unveiled at Houkouji Temple in Hinode Town, Tokyo. This statue, called Rokuya Daibutsu (大仏:statue of Buddha), is taller than the Great Buddha of Kamakura(鎌倉) and the second tallest Daibutsu in Japan, following the Great Buddha of Nara(奈良).

The former chief priest planned this project about 40 years ago and current chief priest made it come true. The thought that he wants to mourn for victims of The Great East Japan Earthquake drives him finish it up.
