Tours in the Countryside of Tokyo

Nishitama region is the western part of Tokyo and that means it is a neighborhood of one of the biggest metropolis in the world. But there are untouched mountains, beautiful rivers and good old Japanese culture without crowds,  skyscrapers, and the bustle of a city.
In such surroundings, people and nature coexist in harmony.
One of the most remarkable aspects of this region is the distance from central Tokyo.
You will enjoy cultural experiences, visiting historic sites and even outdoor activities like hiking, cycling, and river rafting as a day trip from downtown hotels in Tokyo.

~ Mt. Mitake - One of the hidden gems in the countryside of Tokyo ~

Mt. Mitake is located in Ome-city, Tokyo, and has been worshiped since the Musashi Mitake shrine was supposedly founded on the top of the mountain over 2,000 years ago.
In the 17th century, visiting the mountain to pray at the shine on a pilgrimage became popular.
The village surrounded by the shrine was made of Shinto priest families and they offered pilgrimage accommodations as
temple lodgings. Some of them are still in business now and are available for anybody who wishes to spend a night experiencing temple lodging.
The lodgings are very simple, but they serve delicious home-cooked meals also guests can enjoy a beautiful night view of central Tokyo from the peaceful and quiet mountain with fresh air at nighttime. The experience would be similar to staying on Mt. Koya for most tourists, but this mountain is not as famous as Mt. Koya or other Tokyo mountains like Mt Takao.
Mt. Mitake is accessible from downtown Tokyo compared with Mt.Koya. Moreover, you can explore other beautiful attractions besides the shrine and village as a private visit.
We recommend enjoying the rich nature on a day or 2-day Mt. Mitake short trip from downtown Tokyo as a part of your travel itinerary in Japan.
